See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!”
See God’s salvation plan,
Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice,
Fulfilled in Christ, the Man,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
These were the words associated with the piece of music the band played to commence our Easter Sunday celebrations – Hail the Risen Lord! (Steve Ponsford)
The band played The Challenge of the Cross (Dean Goffin), which challenges each one of us to truly give God our soul, our life, our all:
When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.
See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.
Our leaders for Easter were Commissioners Robert and Janine Donaldson (IHQ). Commissioner Janine spoke this morning about hands, specifically the healing hands of Jesus. In a world where some use their hands to perform acts of violence or terror, she encouraged us to be the hands of God and show love and compassion to others.
After the morning meeting the corps, led by the band, had a march of witness through Bellshill. We gave out Easter messages and Easter eggs to the people of Bellshill.
We wish you a happy and blessed Easter!
