30/06/2024 Morning worship

To prepare us for worship this morning, the band played the hymn tune ‘Lord, I Lift your Name On High’.

Lord I lift your name on high
Lord I love to sing your praises
I’m so glad you are in my life
I’m so glad you came to save us.

You came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift your name on high.

Today was a special day at Bellshill, as this morning Hollie Allan was enrolled as a junior soldier, and Hollie’s cousin, Isla Alison, daughter of Liz and Barry Hunter, was dedicated back to God (christened).

During worship the band played ‘Guardian of My Soul’ (Darren Shaw).

I worship you, God’s only Son,
Who took my sins to the cross
So I could be completely free
To follow where you lead.
Lord you wounds are now my healing,
And I am wholly yours.
You know my name and where I’m going,
Guardian of my soul.

O let me hear thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will.

O speak to reassure me,
To chasten or control;
O speak to make me listen,
Thou guardian of my soul.

I’ll follow you, God’s only Son,
Along the road to the cross,
No other place can I find grace,
Unfathomed and unflawed.
And as I reach the hill of Calvary
And see your open arms,
I’ll know my name and where I’m going,
Guardian of my soul

This morning, Major Miriam invited us to look at Jesus; to respond honestly to the question, ‘What do you want?’; then have the courage to follow Him as he invites you to come and see. All this with the knowledge that Jesus sees past us as we are now, and sees the person we can become.

To bring our worship to a conclusion, the band played the hymn tune, ‘Rejoice!’

Chorus
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Christ is in you
The hope of glory
In our hearts
He lives! He lives!
His breath is in you
Arise a mighty army
We arise

Now is the time for us
To march upon the land
Into our hands
He will give the ground we claim
He rides in majesty
To lead us into victory
The world shall see
That Christ is Lord

God is at work in us
His purpose to perform
Building a kingdom
Of power not of words
Where things impossible
By faith shall be made possible
Let’s give the glory
To Him now.

Though we are weak, His grace
Is everything we need
We’re made of clay
But this treasure is within
He turns our weaknesses
Into His opportunities
So that the glory
Goes to Him
