The band made its annual visit to Old Monkland Church in Coatbridge to lead their carol concert. As always, there a good crowd there to listen to our music, and our message.
The first half of the programme included Celebrate the Season, Winter’s Snow and A French Christmas. Chris Shanks played one of the best loved songs, O Holy Night as a euphonium solo. The congregation got the chance to choose some of their favourite carols and sing along with the band, before we concluded the first half of the programme with A Christmas Bolero.
After a short interval, we started the second half of the programme with Rudolph Around the World. We then all joined in singing the Twelve Days of Christmas, with each table being allocated a day with the band getting day 5 (5 gold rings!). This was followed by another item from the band, Carol of the Bells.
As we moved into the reflective part of the programme, the band played the lovely arrangement, Mary Did You Know?, before Dorothy Neil shared some reflections on the best gift we could ever receive at Christmas. This led into the band concluding this part of the programme with a favourite of many at old Monklands, Who Is He?
The band then played Jingle Bells during which we had a visit from a very special guest! The evening finished with the band playing Christmas Praise.
Thank you to everyone who came along tonight, we hope you enjoyed our music and were reminded of the best gift we will ever receive at Christmas, Jesus!
