I must admit to arriving at Wishaw Baptist Church not really wanting to be there - I'd had a very long and at times, very difficult week on many fronts so could have done without being out with the band. That said, it became apart to me fairly early on in our programme that God was there with us and was reminding me that only through Him can we know "Joy Peace and Happiness" - This was the title of one of the pieces the band played and it really brought home to me that despite what might be going on in any of our lives, we can know true peace and immense joy through His love.
My own feelings aside, the band presented a programme which was well accepted by the congregation. As many of the band's recent programmes it was full of a variety of different types of music. We had a "first" on the programme tonight, a cornet solo by Susan Ferguson - Susan has played cornet solos before (while at Rutherglen Salvation Army), but this was her first solo performance with Bellshill Band, not that anyone would have known as she played very well despite her nerves! Well done Susan!

19th - Preview of Launch of Band's 4th CD "Diversity" On Saturday the 19th September the Band will officially launch their 4th CD called "Diversity", at 7.30pm at Bellshill Academy School in Bellshill.
During the evening the Band will perform some of the tracks from the new CD as well as some other items. We are very pleased to be able to welcome Millie Caffull from Croydon Citadel as our guest soloist for the evening. Millie will present a number of vocal solos during the programme. Millie and her family will be joining us at Bellshill Salvation Army on Sunday morning for worship and will be taking part in that service also.
The band are also please that once again the other Bellshill sections will be supporting them: The young peoples band will be playing music prior to the programme commencing while the other sections (songsters and singing company) will participate during the programme.
We hope you will be able to come along and support the band on this important evening and enjoy the programme, but most importantly, you buy some CDs! All proceeds from the sale of the CD are going to the Bellshill Salvation Army building fund.
For those of you able to attend this event please bear in mind that there are major roadworks in Bellshill at present - The North Road is currently closed and Bellshill Main Street is extremely busy. Parking will be available at the rear of Bellshill Academy and at Bellshill Salvation Army hall (just a few yards along the road from the school).
So please make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the Academy for the 7.30pm start! by Webmaster Dorothy M Neil
19th - CD Launch Night - Millie Caffull Unfortunately, due to illness, Millie was unable to join with us this weekend as we launched our new CD. The band would like to wish Millie a speedy recovery.
19th - CD Launch Night - Review Saturday 19th September 2009 was the launch of Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s 4th CD “Diversity”. With a steady stream of people joining in the celebration, before long, the assembly hall at Bellshill Academy was packed out.
The evening kicked off with the YP Band, led by Yvonne Ferguson and Chris Shanks (YP Band Leader and Deputy YP Band Leader) providing some pre-concert music for 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert.
The band, dressed smartly in their Festival tunics, entered while the march “Punchinello” played and picked up and played the piece from half way through. The pieces played were as diverse from “The Lion King” to “The Path of Glory” and “Gabriel’s Oboe from the Mission” to “Such Love”.
The soloists for the evening were: Chris Shanks on Euphonium – Grandfather’s Clock Lynn Shanks on Flugel Horn – Through it all Yvonne Ferguson on Cornet - Rhapsody for Cornet and Band
