Broomknoll Church

Last updated: 05/06/2009

16th - Broomknoll Church, Airdrie

At our band practice on Thursday evening, we prayed that the programme given by the band would bless and encourage those would hear us at Broomknoll Church tonight. Once again, God more than delivered on that prayer, as it was obvious by the response by the congregation tonight that they had been moved and blessed by the varied programme presented by the band.

In the last while the band has used a mixture of Salvation Army music and other music in our programmes, so that there would be something in every programme that everyone should recognise, and tonight's programme was no different. We started with a classical Salvation Army march "Star Lake", end with the well know march "Colonel Bogey", and in between played a piece of music from the BBC's top 10 hymns, a theme from a well known TV programme, a classical Mozart piece, music from the movies, as well of course as other Christian/Salvation Army music. Full details of the programme can be found by visiting the Programmes page.

The soloists for the evening were Yvonne Ferguson (cornet), Lynn Shanks (flugel horn) and Chris Shanks (euphonium). For the first time in one of our band concerts we also had a vocal trio presented by Olwyn Mathie, and Caroline & Daniel McMillan, which I'm sure will not be their last , as they sang a beautiful song with a great Christian message called "Stronger For It".

A good evening of praise and worship was had by all present at Newarthill Church this evening.
