31st - Band visit Newarthill Church

On a bright and sunny spring evening, the band visited Newarthill Church to present a programme on the final night of the church's guild session. The guild started the evening before passing the programme over to Bandmaster Ian Dickie to lead the programme from the band.

The heating in the church was on and the hall was very warm. The however did not prevent the band from playing very well that evening. Due to the heat, the band were grateful from a short interval in the middle of the programme which allowed us to get some well needed refreshments.

The programme included variety of items including several from the band's new CD, "Diversity", which we recorded just a few weeks ago (see Band to record CD for further details). The congregation received all the band items well and showed their appreciation by their warm applause after each item. The soloists for the evening were Yvonne Ferguson (cornet), Gemma Gunn (vocal), Lynn Shanks (flugel horn) and Chris Shanks (euphonium). Despite the heat in the church, all the soloists performed excellently on the evening and like the band items, received warm applause from the congregation.

A good evening of praise and worship was has by all present at Newarthill Church this evening.
