Last updated: 05/06/2009 3rd - Music For A Summer Evening, Bellshill Salvation Army On a beautiful sunny and warm evening, the band held their third "Music for a Summer Evening" concerts - This has become regular event on the first Wednesday of June each year. As always, this event was held at the Bellshill Salvation Army, and tonight the hall was full to overflowing, with some having to sit in the foyer for the first few items until seats were found for them in the hall!
The band started the programme with the Salvation Army march called "Southdown", followed by the devotional song "By His Hand". Major Andrea Still then welcomed everyone to the concert and introduced the congregation to Bandmaster Ian Dickie who lead the programme.
Once again the band gave a varied programme using a mixture of Salvation Army music and other music. This way we hope there will be something in the programme that everyone can recognise and hopefully enjoy as well music which will challenge every listener by its message. Tonight we also included some new music which we'd never included in a programme before - This included the song "Somethin' Stupid" which was made popular again recently by Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman, as well as the classical piece entitled "The Lost Chord".

Many of those gathered for the concert were from other churches/Salvation Army's in the Bellshill and surrounding areas, while others had come from further afield...some had come from Kelty! The congregation showed their appreciation for all items through their applause after each item.
