Birthday Celebrations

Duncan Gunn from our bass section has reached a
milestone birthday. I will let you guess the milestone!
Many happy
returns Duncan!
5th -
Baillieston Evangelical Church
This was the first visit to this church and was a
further opportunity to spread the good new of the gospel to these
people. The band played in the “Hope Hall”.
This was an open night concert and the hall was
full to capacity, with extra chairs having to be brought into the hall.
After surviving heavy rain prior to the concert,
the band started with the opening march “Let there be Praise”. The full
programme is attached for your review.
We also had the privilege of Mrs Margaret Curran
the local MSP speaking about partnerships and in particular the
partnerships within the community and the churches.
The guest speaker for the evening was Mr John
Spiers from the GLO Centre (Motherwell), and he spoke very well around
the Salvation Army founder William Booth. He was a joy to listen to.
The programme finished with the usual lovely tea
for the band, which was greatly received by all.
The band also had 29 pre-orders for three new CD
“Musical Aspects”.

12th -
Stonehouse St Ninians
Another Monday night engagement for the band. This
time it was March 12th and Stonehouse St Ninians Church.
Once again the band was part of another sell out
with over 200 people present. This time we were in the main church
suite of buildings. The band was very close together as the playing
space was tight.
We started off with the festival march “Able” and
the programme is attached for you to look at.
Our 4 soloists from the New CD took part in the
concert. Yvonne Ferguson, Gemma Gunn, Lynn Shanks and Olwyn Mathie.
Once again the band played very well, and the
programme was a great success.
Our networking with local and not so local churches
is still expanding, and we have now had excellent opportunities for
witness during the past two Monday’s.
We were all very glad again for the lovely food
that was provided for us after the concert.
Another 30 CD orders were placed for our new
project “Musical Aspects” .
Special thanks to Donald Perry, who had to work
very hard to get our multi-media to work on the church system.

17th -
West Baptist Church, Dunfermline
Saturday 17th March was another new
venture for the band. We were invited to perform musical concert in
the West Baptist Church in Dunfermline. We boarded the bus and left at
5.30 for the church. On arrival we noticed that Donald Perry and his
wife Hazel were missing as they went in their own car. They had broken
down and had to wait for the AA to come to their rescue. Donald still
managed to get the Media ready for the 7.30 start.
For the third time in 2 weeks, we play to a packed
church. It is really quite humbling to know that so many people are
willing to attend these events to hear God’s Music.
The concert was a charity concert in aid of MS
(Alzheimer’s) and also Breast Cancer.
The band personnel and supporters donated £5 each
to the charities, which is a really great gesture. During the
Programme Lady Elgin presented 2 separate cheques of £1000 to the
charities. The band then presented their donations to the charities.
The total raised from the concert was in excess of £2500.

The band was in good form that evening and played a
very varied programme especially suited to the church congregation. We
played several tracks from our new CD, and also took pre-orders of 40.
The B/M also welcomed Charlene Gribben and Laura
Mitchell into the band for their first few engagements. These young
ladies are now senior soldiers and await their commissions as bandswomen.
You will find the programme attached, along with
some pictures of the band in action and also the cheque presentations.
After another good supper, we loaded up and left
for Bellshill arriving approx 11.00pm.
This has been a truly great fortnight of
networking, playing, and inspiring people through our music. It is
great to hear comments from the band personnel who are getting a real
buzz from these concerts.
