Birthday Celebrations
Over the last few months George Ferguson, Robert Addie and Robert Lawson
have celebrated "significant" birthdays. We will leave it up to you to
determine who celebrates which "significant" birthday!
We hope you each enjoyed your birthday celebrations!
12th - B/M is Guest Speaker at Rotary
Club
On the 12th of September, Bandmaster Ian Dickie was invited to speak at
the Bothwell and Uddingston Rotary Club. The presentation was on "The
Salvation Army" and the Bellshill Salvation Army Band.
After enjoying a meal, Ian stood and presented a 40 minute talk. This
was about the history of the Salvation Army and then a look at the
Band's activities in the community. Ian worked with Powerpoint and
showed several Band Photo Shows from the Easter Tour of 2003 right up to
current photos of the Band.
At the end of the presentation a question and answer session took place.
During this time a number of questions were asked covering several
interesting topics.
A vote of thanks was given by the President of the Rotary Club. Then,
before Ian was able to leave, the group insisted on Ian playing a few
tunes on his euphonium.
Ian felt that this was a great networking opportunity and has now
managed to meet new business friends. The invitation to the evening was
given to Ian by Boyd Tunnock who is a keen supporter of Bellshill Band.
