9th - Band Play at Store Re-opening

Carolling starts early for Bellshill Band. Bellshill Band were asked by DHQ to attend the re-opening of the ASDA store in Robroyston.

An ensemble of 8 players and the B/M played Christmas Carols from 8.30 - 9.30 as the shoppers stopped to listen to the music.  Many good comments were being made as the band played some early Christmas music to the community.

B/M Ian Dickie commented that the band feels as if they have been playing Christmas music since the summer especially with all the work being done for the bands new CD release on 9th December entitled "Christmas Praise".

15th - Lesley Ann Ferguson Graduates

Congratulations to Lesley Ann on her graduation as a nurse.

Lesley Ann celebrated her graduation with the rest of her family - I'm sure they were all very proud of her!

Well done!

18th - Alex Buchanan Promoted to Glory

Born on the 15th of May 1917, Alex was brought up in Bothwell Park, Lanarkshire, within a family of three sisters and one brother.

His extended family became the Salvation Army where he was a serving soldier at Bellshill Corps for 50 years before transferring to Gorgie.

A trained singer, he used his musical ability as bandmaster and songster leader at Bellshill.

He started his working life as a baker and was then called up for National Service, stationed for a period of time in Iceland.

A change of career led him within the sales field, spending a considerable time with the "Tunnocks Empire" and ending his last 30 working years as a respected sales executive within the vending industry.

Holidays were taken annually - "no, three times a year!" at the Lake District, enjoying the serenity of the area and the coffee of Hayes Garden Centre.

During the last eight years, Alex got great enjoyment and pleasure watching his four great grand daughters growing up.

Alex had been due to lead Bellshill Band in a carol at the launch of their new CD on 9th December.
