Band to Record CD

Happy New Year

Last updated: 13/04/2009

Happy New Year from the Bandmaster and the Band

Another year has come and gone and we are now looking forward to 2005.

This year we will be visiting Sheffield Citadel in March with Sheffield returning to Bellshill in November.

We will be having our Band League Tea in February and will also be recording a CD during the same month.

We will be arranging some concerts and a “Launch Night” for the CD in April, May and June to sell our CD. The proceeds will be given to the “Bellshill Corps Building Fund”.

The band will be at the usual events in the Community for the Street Fayre, Holy Week Service and Armistice Day as well as the Christmas Carol playing.

During 2004 we unfortunately lost Retired Bandmaster Jack Dickie who was Promoted To Glory in March.   Bert Elliott also retired form the band after many years as a bandsman in Hamilton and Bellshill.  Linda Black had to take some time out as a result of pressure of work.

We have introduced Fiona Gailey into the band on 1st Cornet who was a product of the YP Band.   Major Lawrie Hope has recently joined on BBb after a very tough period with the loss of his wife Marjory.

There are a crop of YP band members who are considering commencing “Recruits Classes” or have recently completed Recruits Classes.  We hope to see some of these youngsters taking the next step in their Christian Journey over the coming months.

So 2005 looks to be another busy year for the band.  New Projects, Old Projects but I hope and pray that we will have another year of great fellowship within the band.

Band to Record First Ever CD

The band will be making history this year by recording their first ever CD. This will be recorded at Uddingston Old Parish Church starting on Monday 14th February.  The recording will take three nights to complete.

The recording will be a compilation of easy listening music.   Although the final play-list has not been agreed, the focus will be on music that the general listener will be familiar with. Their will be some Salvation Army Classics, some instrumental and vocal solos along with well known religious music.

We hope that the CD will be completed and ready for sale by the start of April.

The recording will be managed by B@H Sound Services.

Watch this space for further developments and ordering details.
