21st/22nd - Visit of Blackburn Citadel Band

Photos from the recent visit of Blackburn Citadel Band on Saturday 21st February and Sunday 22nd February 2004, can be found on the Photo Gallery 2004 page.

During the weekend we also had visitors from Treebeek (the Netherlands) where Bellshill Band visited during our Easter Tour of 2003. Treebeek Band will be visiting Bellshill on 21st/22nd/23rd May 2004 - further details will be provided nearer the time of their visit.

Below are photos of our friends from Treebeek joining with Bellshill Band during the recent visit of Blackburn Band.

The return visit of Blackburn Band renewed friendships and fellowship following our band's visit there last year. The hall was packed for the Saturday night festival and a very warm congregation responded to a programme that was well planned and had something in it for everyone. The band pieces, vocal and cornet solos brought blessing and challenge to those present.

Sunday morning was a time of sharing in the meeting under the direction of Blackburn's Songster Leader. After the meeting a march of witness was held with almost 60 bandsmen/women from both Blackburn and Bellshill, it also included the Bandmaster and Corps Treasurer from Treebeek in the south of the Netherlands. The local police were happy to provide an escort and it was thrilling to see the Army Flags and so many on the march.

Sunday afternoon the hall was packed and once again the congregation responded to a programme that had been well planned and included a horn solo and cornet duet. After a short wind up in which the senior sections from the home corps took part, refreshments were served before our comrades set out for the return journey to Blackburn.
