Music for a Summer’s Evening 08/06/2018

What a fantastic night we shared tonight at Bellshill Salvation Army for the band’s annual Music For a Summer’s Evening concert. The hall was packed to capacity as we praised God through the medium of our music.

The collection tonight raised over £1200 for one of our corps members, Tom Gailey, to help with the purchase a specialist wheelchair which will help improve his quality of life. Thank you for giving so generously.

Nearly all the items presented by the band tonight were new to our repertoire:

  • Flashpoint
  • Every Time I Feel the Spirit
  • The Break of Day
  • Hold That Fort!
  • Shine
  • To Boldly Go
  • Praise

We featured several soloist tonight:

  • Christopher Keane (soprano) played Demelza
  • Cameron Shanks (xylophone) played Tango

The reflect part of the programme started with YPBL Chris Shanks playing the beautiful euphonium solo, In Gardens of Peace. Band Sergeant David Kendall then shared some reflections before the band concluded this part of the programme with an arrangement of The Candle of the Lord.

Thank you also to everyone who came along to Bellshill tonight, we hope you enjoyed the programme, but were also blessed and challenged by our music. Thank you again for your generosity in helping us raise a fantastic amount of money tonight for Tom Gailey.
