Morning worship 28/01/18

In preparation for worship, the band played the hymn tune Trust In God, to which we associate the following words:

When from sin’s dark hold thy love had won me,
And its wounds thy tender hands had healed,
As thy blest commands were laid upon me,
Growing light my growing need revealed.
Thus I sought the path of consecration
When to thee, dear Lord, my vows were given;
And the joy which came with full salvation
Winged my feet and filled my heart with Heaven.

By the love that never ceased to hold me,
By the blood which thou didst shed for me,
While thy presence and thy power enfold me,
I renew my covenant with thee.

Today is Homelessness Sunday, so we were reminded that homeless people are human beings just like us. Major Chris asked that whenever we see any homeless people, that we stop and take then for some food. It may save a life!

Our contribution to worship was Andrew Blyth’s In God’s Presence which features Bow the Knee and All to Jesus I Surrender:

There are moments on our journey following the Lord
When God illumines ev’ry step we take.
There are times when circumstances make perfect sense to us,
As we try to understand each move He makes.
When the path grows dim and our questions have no answers, turn to Him.

Bow the knee.
Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.
Bow the knee.
Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.
And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,
In the presence of the King, bow the knee.

There are days when clouds surround us, and the rain begins to fall,
The cold and lonely winds won’t cease to blow.
And there seems to be no reason for the suffering we feel;
We are tempted to believe God does not know.
When the storms arise, don’t forget we live by faith and not by sight.

Bow the knee.
Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.
Bow the knee.
Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.
And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,
In the presence of the King, bow the knee.

All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all,
I surrender all.
All to thee, my blessed Saviour,
I surrender all.

We brought worship to a conclusion by playing Paul Sharman’s arrangement of Nik and Emma Pears music, The Lord Bless You and Keep You

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make His face to shine upon Thee,
And be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee,
And give thee peace.
Amen

After worship we went to Wishaw General Hospital where we were able to spend some time sharing music with the staff, patients and visitors to the hospital in the main atrium.
