On this fourth Sunday of advent our worship this morning was prepared by Allan Scott. The theme of the meeting was The Voices of Christmas. So we heard the story of Christmas from the perspective of some of those who were there. For example, Mary, Joseph, shepherds, angels, Herod.
The band contributed two items during worship, the first Richard Phillips arrangement of the carol Midwinter. The second was one of our favourite Christmas pieces, Who Is He? (Benjamin Hanby arr. Richard Phillips).
Who is he in yonder stall
at whose feet the shepherds fall?
‘Tis the Lord, O wondrous story!
‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory;
at his feet, we humbly fall,
crown him, crown him Lord of all!
At the end of our worship the band shared Olaf Ritman’s march To celebrate His Birth.
After worship we went to Wishaw General Hospital where we spent some time sharing carols with the staff, patients and visitors to the hospital in the main atrium and in some of the wards.
This afternoon and ensemble from the band provided pre-meeting music before our corps carol service.
