Today was another special day at Bellshill, as this morning Oscar Louie Allan was dedicated back to God, and Ethan May was enrolled as a junior soldier.
At the start of worship the band played James Anderson’s march The Pioneers, which features the chorus I Have Decided To Follow Jesus. This was an appropriate choice, as while we played the march, the corps flag was brought into the hall, followed by Ethan and our commanding officers Chris and Lynda.
This morning we were also privileged to share in the dedication (christening) of Oscar Louie Allan, son of Charlene and Brian Allan. The band piece this morning, Procession to Covenant by William Himes, was especially requested by Charlene and Brian.
O love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
that in thine ocean depths its flow
may richer, fuller be.
O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
my heart restores its borrowed ray,
that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
may brighter, fairer be.
O joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
and feel the promise is not vain
that morn shall tearless be.
O cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
and from the ground there blossoms red
life that shall endless be.
Major Chris challenged us again this morning to remember not just who we are, but whose we are.
At the end of the meeting the band played the chorus Faithful God:
Faithful God, faithful God,
all sufficient One, I worship You.
Shalom, my peace, my strong deliverer,
I lift You up, faithful God.
Please pray for Ethan our newest junior soldier, that in these coming days he continues to learn more about Jesus and grows in his Christian experience.
