Worship today was led by Deputy Bandmaster Melvyn Shanks. The theme for worship was “It’s what we trust in but cannot see that keeps us going”. Melvyn asked us to ensure we put our trust fully in God even during times of uncertainty and difficulty, because God is always there for us.
Mid All The Traffic (arranged by Leonard Ballantine) was the band’s contribution to worship.
Mid all the traffic of the ways,
Turmoils without, within,
Make in my heart a quiet place,
And come and dwell therein.
A little shrine of quietness,
All sacred to thyself,
Where thou shalt all my soul possess,
And I may find myself.
A little place of mystic grace,
Of self and sin swept bare,
Where I may look upon Thy face,
And talk with Thee in prayer.
Come, occupy my silent place,
And make thy dwelling there!
More grace is wrought in quietness
Than any is aware.
At the end of the meeting the band played the hymn tune St Teresa with which we associate these words
Let nothing disturb thee,
Nothing affright thee;
All things are passing,
God never changeth!
Patient endurance attaineth to all things;
Who God possesseth in nothing is wanting;
Alone God sufficeth.
