Easter Sunday 01/04/2018

Now it begins!

See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!”
See God’s salvation plan,
Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice,
Fulfilled in Christ, the Man,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

These were the words associated with the piece of music the band played to commence our Easter Sunday celebrations – Hail the Risen Lord!

This morning we were treated to beautiful vocal solo from Olwyn Mathie entitled Worthy Is The Lamb.

During the meeting, Major Chris asked that as we celebrate this Easter, we also wake up and be who God wants us to be!

The band played The Challenge of the Cross, which challenges each one of us to truly give God our soul, our life, our all:

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

At the conclusion of worship we played the hymn tune He Lives!

He lives, He lives,
I know that my Redeemer lives.
He lives, He lives,
I know that my Redeemer lives.

After the morning meeting the corps marched through the streets of Bellshill with the band, to remind the community of the true reason we celebrate Easter.

We wish you all a happy and blessed Easter!
