Today we share ‘Be Still’, one of the virtual recordings we did last year while we were unable to play together in person, as a band. ‘Be Still’ is a beautiful setting of the wonderful tune Finlandia written by Jean Sibelius, arranged by Dorothy Gates.
In the Scriptures, there are many references to God asking us to, ‘Be Still’.
In Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be Still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”.
Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you: you need only be still”.
While in Psalm 62:5 we read, “For God alone, Oh my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him”
The words we associate with the music ‘Be Still’, speak of God’s peace and comfort amid the trials of life.
Be still, my soul: The Lord is on your side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to your God to order and provide;
In every change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Your best, your heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: Your God will undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: The hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
We hope you enjoy the music, and are blessed by the message.
