The weekends away were just not for music alone but were definitely an opportunity to spread the news that Jesus is alive in this day and age, what thrills there were to see the Mercy seat being used time and time again, our weekends away were definitely for "The Right Reason".
Who can forget our Easter Campaign in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and as Band Sergeant I was superbly proud of our young folk and their committment to music but more importantly their input to the deep spiritual moments that were /experienced during this tour.
Having been a YP Band member and senior bandsman spanning 65 years I felt the time was right to retire. My thanks to each member of the band for their friendship and fellowship over the past 18 years.
I would particularly like to thank Bandmaster Ian Dickie for his leadership and encouragement and dedication to the Bellshill Band and I cannot finish without paying tribute to Retired Bandmaster Jackie Dickie, who is now in Glory, for all that he was as a Christian gentleman and dedicated Salvationist and an sincere friend to me. by Sam Ritchie 16/11/2011 |
