01/05/2022 Morning worship

As the call to worship today, the band played ‘Be Still for the Presence of the Lord’.

Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here;
Come bow before him now with reverence and fear:
In him no sin is found – we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One, is here.

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;
He burns with holy fire, with splendour he is crowned:
How awesome is the sight – our radiant King of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place;
He comes to cleanse and heal, to minister his grace –
No work too hard for him. In faith receive from him.
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.

Our contribution to worship was the song arrangement ‘As The Deer’ Martin Nystrom (arr. James Wright).

As the deer pants for the water,
So my soul longs after You.
You alone are my heart’s desire,
And I long to worship You.

You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire,
And I long to worship You.

I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver,
And the apple of my eye.

You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire,
And I long to worship You.

You’re my friend and You are my brother
Even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.

You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire,
And I long to worship You.

Major Miriam reminded us today that sometimes we need to remind ourselves to focus our eyes and ears on God, so He can set our hearts on fire. God’s eternal presence is with us in all things, whether our hope seems lost or we can’t contain our joy. We need to make sure our hearts are burning when we walk with Jesus, no matter whether in a time of despair or a time of joy. Jesus is with us every step of the way should give us confidence, if we will just look to Him as He walks beside us.

At the conclusion of worship the band played the tune ‘Keep In Step’. Here’s the words we associate with this melody.

Valiant soldier, marching to the fray,
Keep in step all the time.
Do not lag or falter by the way,
Keep in step all the time.
You may find the way is long and drear,
Many dangers may cause you to fear;
Do not give in but strive and persevere
And keep in step all the time.

Chorus
Keep in step all the time,
Keep in step all the time;
Don’t fall out and rest for a while,
Follow Jesus all the way, and smile.
Keep in step all the time,
Keep in step all the time;
You will find each day your pathway easy
If you keep in step all the time.

Valiant soldier, you must not despair,
Keep in step all the time.
Follow Jesus gladly everywhere,
Keep in step all the time.
March on bravely o’er the battlefield,
In the mighty conflict never yield,
But trust in Jesus, he’s your guide and shield,
So keep in step all the time.

Valiant soldier, fighting for the Lord,
Keep in step all the time;
Don your armour, take your shield sword,
Keep in step all the time.
Forward, forward, ’tis the Lord’s command,
In the cause of right now take your stand,
Go marching forward to the promised land,
And keep in step all the time.
